Frederic Walperswyler, painter
From 1978 to 1998, to paint and to be at sea were one harmonious experience.
Existentially, both sailing and painting were essential. Without them,
Walperswyler says, he could not survive.
There was a break from painting between 1998 and 2007 because the
chemistry of multiple factors. One significant event was his move
from one continent to another.
From fall 2007, in his studio in Stonington, Connecticut, he is back
to what he calls “his pictorial sailing”. To paint and to
sail remain the core of his work, his life.

Frédéric Walperswyler, peintre.
De 1978 à 1998, peindre était comme être en Mer.
“Etre à la Mer” et peindre: deux mêmes vécus
de survie existentielle. Sans eux, Walperswyler dit qu’aujourd’hui,
il serait mort ou interné.
Coupure d’avec “peindre” de 1998 à 2007 pour...???
Chimie complexe de multiples raisons et, parmi celles-ci, le passage
d’un continent à un autre.
Dès l’automne 2007, dans son nouvel atelier de Stonington,
Connecticut, USA, il reprend ses “navigations picturales”.
