Uppsala en Suède et réside depuis 1958 à Genève.
Son intérêt pour la photographie est apparu très
tôt lorsque, dans la chambre noire, il a découvert le
miracle de la naissance de l'image sous la lumière rouge .
Avec les années, cette fascination s'est transformée
en une réelle motivation pour la recherche artistique, sans
pour autant déboucher sur une carrière professionnelle
de photographe. Celle-ci ayant évolué dans d'autres
domaines (CERN) .
•Biographical notes• english Björn Smith was born in 1928 at Uppsala in
Sweden and has since 1958 lived in Geneva. An early interest in photography
was based essentially on the miracle of seeing the image being born
in the tray under the red light. Gradually over the years this fascination
developed into an understanding of artistic qualities and how to achieve
them. There was, however, never any intention of embarking upon a
professional career in photography. Another path beckoned, at CERN.
